Due to upscaling of their Customs Department our client is looking for a Supervisor Customs, who is responsible for the day-to-day operational performance and results, ensuring consistent operational excellence and long-term profitability, in line with the directives given by the Customs Manager NL.

1.Manage and coach Customs Department of total 11 FTE to enhance operational excellence:
-Day-to-day management (work structure/processes, recruitment, leave, communication).
-Performance and development monitoring and follow-up of direct reports & high potentials
-Enhance operational excellence:
-Set & monitor KPIs to assess the level of operational excellence
-Implement initiatives and resolve issues to enhance operational excellence
-Build a solid, dedicated, and enthusiastic team in collaboration with the Customs Manager

2.Coordination of overall customs activities by customs department:
-Timely execution of customs clearance activities (in, through and out)
-Administrative follow up on un-cleared documents/ UTBs and customs disputes
-Customs administration type E bookkeeping
-Handling of Tax Representation, Direct and Indirect Representation.
-Arranging VAT statements taking fiscal responsibilities and entities in consideration
-Timely execution of financial activities for the month-end closing

3.Develop and maintain relationships with Key/high potential accounts and Customs:
-Remain up to date with developments of and within key and high potential accounts
-Adapt/adjust the internal organisation accordingly (and timely) to create optimal customer satisfaction and extend our business
-Build strong relationships with Customs; remain up to date regarding customs regulation

4.Execution of tasks by Customs Supervisor:
-Administration of customer agreements regarding fiscal representation
-Management of 'customs guarantee'
-Maintenance & set up of customs software
-Controlling customs licenses
-Signal, reduce and report potential risks
-Support in common activities within the customs clearance department where/when needed

-Directly responsible and managing of total 11 FTE
-Scope: National
-Participate in projects, requests and initiatives
-Remain up-to-date with Customs regulations, market and branch information and developments


Essential Educational and / or Training Qualifications & Certificates
-HBO work - think level
-Customs clearance certificate

Preferred Experience and Knowledge
-At least 7 years of relevant freight experience in customs of which 2-3 years in a managing role.

Necessary Technical / Functional Skills
-Good knowledge of customs formalities & legislation
-Good knowledge of customs tariff
-Good knowledge of IT systems and processes used within customs clearance
-Good knowledge of the international transportation and logistics industry
-Knowledge of logistic processes
-Fluent in Dutch and English

Behavioural Competences

-Good and pro-active communication skills towards colleagues, clients and customs
-Be able to work in a hectic environment
-Problem-solving attitude
